Does Hurricane Season Affect Cranberry Homes?
8/18/2021 (Permalink)
Did you know that we are in the middle of the Atlantic hurricane season, which is from June 1st to November 30th? The NOAA predicts this hurricane season to be active again, with a 60% chance of an “above-normal” season. But this does not matter to homeowners in Cranberry, right? You would think since we are so far from the ocean this should not matter. Well, think again!
SERVPRO of Crawford / NE Venango Counties is here to explain why hurricanes can indeed affect your Cranberry home.
Hurricanes across the Atlantic coast can push heavy rainfall into our communities. Ready.gov reported that Tropical Storm Isaias in 2020 brought two EF-2 Tornadoes into Pennsylvania. We do not need to worry about storm surges or waves in Cranberry, but we do need to worry about flash flooding, high winds, and tornadoes.
Our Governor is even urging us to Prepare for Hurricane Season.
When hurricanes are present in the Atlantic, keep your eye out! Prepare for heavy rainfall and flooding with a Home Emergency Kit. If your Cranberry home suffers flooding or other types of storm damage following these hurricanes, you know who to call! SERVPRO of Crawford / NE Venango Counties is the industry leader in water damage restoration.
